The Tower of Americas was created as a centerpiece for Hemisfair '68, San Antonio's 1968 World's Fair celebrating the city's 250th anniversary. It is also an international exposition showcasing the Confluence of civilizations in the Americas, which was the theme for the fair.
The Tower of the Americas standing at 750 feet tall, was the tallest observation tower in the United States up until the Stratosphere Tower located in Las Vegas was built in 1996. The Tower still remains the tallest observation tower in Texas.

The Tower of the Americas is a staple of history in downtown San Antonio. It features a revolving Charthouse restaurant with mouthwatering selections, an observation deck with a breathtaking panoramic view of the city, and a 4D movie experience that welcomes all ages. We accept card only at our retail shop, café, parking booth and ticket booth.
We accept cash, credit or debit, and text to pay options inside our Chart House Restaurant and Bar 601 Lounge.
We will be going cashless on the entire property starting February 1st, 2026.

A reservation for our Chart House restaurant is highly recommended to guarantee seating and ensure speedy service.
Our Observation Deck and 4D Theater are not by reservation and operate on a first come first serve basis.

Yes, Tower of Americas is fully wheelchair accessible with accessible ramp entrances and elevators to the observation deck guaranteeing access to all of our amenities.
We offer on-site parking for our guests. Please see the parking attendant upon arrival for current pricing and details, as rates are subject to variation.
We recommend setting aside 2–3 hours to fully experience the Tower of Americas. A full rotation in our Charthouse restaurant is 45 minutes to an hour. Bar 601 is an experience of its own, with skyline views and amazing mixology experts. The average time spent in the observation deck is 30 minutes to an hour and movie times average from 10 to 15 minutes.
Anytime! The Tower offers many seasonal amenities to take advantage of, so make sure to check out our socials for an updated list of events. We especially recommend the view at sunset and nightfall, and weekdays are best to avoid longer wait times.
Happy Hour at Bar 601 is served Monday – Friday, 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM.

Yes, our Chart House restaurant does rotate. Those who experience frequent motion sickness are advised to request a non-rotating seat.
We have many options available to accommodate all diets but we are most known for our steak and seafood selections.

The Riverwalk is about a 7 minute walk to the closest River access point located in front of the Henry B. Gonzales convention center.
